The Truth Behind Anime

Anime

Anime is Japanese cartoons, but they are not just cartoons, there is a bigger depth to it. When people think of anime they often think of the famous TV series Pokémon. Pokémon means pocket monsters; it is based of animals in real life animals. However anime is not just fancy creatures with magical powers there are some meaningful anime programmes such as Patlabor. Which means mobile police, it is about the future and how robots work for humans and keep everything in control, but many deaths happen along the way, it is extremely sad.

The most popular Anime series is Pokémon, however I think that Pokémon is very overrated, as the story line is very boring after a while because it is very repetitive, the only thing that happens is a Boy called Ash winning a new Gym badge for beating someone else’s  Pokémon in a battle with his Pokémon, this would be fun as anime action is enjoyable to watch, but Pokémon is too predictable as we know that Ash will win, get a gym badge, and then the cliff-hanger will be whether he will win the next battle that is coming up, when we all know he does.
An anime series that is much better than Pokémon but does not get the credit for it is Digimon which means Digital Monsters, a few reasons why Digimon is better are;
1)      The opening for Digimon looks and sounds much better, there is people falling from a cliff into the Digimon world while a huge Digimon is watching, and there is also lightning bolts coming from Digimon whilst heavy metal music is playing. Whereas Pokémon just shows the characters throwing their Pokéballs (the storage place for the Pokémon) whilst some slow sad sounding music plays.
2)      In Digimon all of the Digimon talk whereas Pokémon  don’t talk they just say their name to communicate for example for Pikachu in Pokémon he would say Pika-Pikach-Pikachu to say hello and say Pika-Pikach-Pikachu to say I’m hungry which is just a bit silly as nobody understands what the Pokémon  are saying apart from the Pokémon
3)      Evolution in Digimon is not permanent, for example Pikachu evolves into Raichu, but if you liked Pikachu more then, sorry but you can’t get Pikachu back, but in Digimon the Digimon can evolve but if you don’t like what it evolved into then you can always change it back.
4)      In Digimon the villains are extremely creepy, they are vicious and cruel whereas in Pokémon the villains are a bunch of really silly people with a cat that talks, their only aim is to catch Pikachu which is a Pokémon that is basically a yellow rabbit.
5)      In Pokémon whenever Ash won a gym battle against another Pokémon trainer he would win a small little gym badge that was pretty much worthless, but he carried on anyway, but in Digital Minsters there is a Digimon crest that the characters get which is valuable and looks much better.
Anyway that’s enough about why Digimon is better than Pokémon, Let’s get down to the real stuff, Anime is an art and many people are ignorant towards it even though they know nothing about it. Many different anime movies and programmes are absolutely am amazing such as My neighbour Totoro, Akira, Ghost in the shell, The girl who leapt through time and last but not least my favourite Patlabor 1&2.
Try watching anime you might find that you like it.
